Thomas James Phetmeuangmay is an accomplished public administration professional with a strong background in political science and anthropology. He holds a Master's degree in Public Administration for Local Government and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Anthropology from Northern Illinois University, with an emphasis on International Relations, Cultural Anthropology, and Southeast Asian Studies.
Thomas has gained valuable work experience through a variety of roles, including an internship with the Village Administration of Coal City. In this position, he conducted analytical research, assisted in daily functions, and facilitated communication between village departments. He also worked at Graham Cracker Comics Retailer, where he managed their extensive comic book collection, trained new employees, and provided customer service.
As a Technology and School Supplies Retailer at Village Commons Bookstore, Thomas demonstrated exceptional sales and customer service skills. Additionally, Thomas worked as a Photojournalist for the Northern Star Newspaper, where he captured and edited photographs, conducted in-depth interviews, and trained incoming employees.
Thomas has also been actively involved in student activities, serving as the President of the Southeast Asian Studies Club at Northern Illinois University. In this role, he organized and oversaw club meetings, facilitated communication between club organizations and faculty, and helped plan and execute cultural events.
His personal achievements include receiving the Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship twice and playing a significant role in organizing the Southeast Asian Studies Conference. Thomas's extensive educational background, diverse work experience, and dedication to cultural understanding make him a well-rounded professional in the field of public administration.
