Sunny Chanthanouvong
Executive Director
Sunny is a highly accomplished Executive Director with over 14 years of experience in executive administration, financial management, budgeting, program planning and development, fundraising, strategic planning, board development, volunteer management, and staff supervision. They have managed the day-to-day operations of a community-based organization serving Lao American residents in Minnesota and provided leadership to numerous community projects, including collaborative partnerships with other Southeast Asian agencies.
Sunny is adept at delivering program outcomes, building relationships with funders, and ensuring the responsible management of donor funds. Their expertise spans strategy, vision, mission planning, finance, budgeting, cost management, public relations, media affairs, policy and procedure development, program services, projects, government regulations and relations, human resource management, contract negotiations, strategic alliances, and team building and performance improvement.
Their collaborative management experience includes working with various projects, such as Southeast Asian Compulsive Gambling Prevention, Southeast Asian Chemical Health Living Free, Lao Elderly Special Dir Services, Growth up Health project, Community Mental Health Project, Southeast Asian Adult Tobacco Cessation Project, National Gender and Equity Campaign, and Asian Pacific Health Consortium.
Sunny has pursued various educational opportunities and certifications, including a Bush Fellowship, attending the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and completing programs in Nonprofit Management, Nonprofit Institute, Mini MBA for Nonprofit Organizations, Mini Master of Real Estate Development, and Management Institute of Executive Director Leadership. They hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and an Associate of Arts degree.
As a dedicated professional, Sunny has affiliations with several organizations and research projects. They have been a co-principal investigator for several research projects at the University of Minnesota, focusing on colorectal cancer and Hepatitis B. Sunny has received the prestigious Virginia McKnight Binger Award in Human Services and has served on the boards of various organizations, including St. Paul Foundation, Asian Pacific Endowment, Minnesota Asian/American Health Coalition, Harrison Neighborhood Association, Center Southeast Research Education, Mutual Association Agencies in Hennepin County, NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center, and Minnesota State Compulsive Gambling.
Sunny's passion for community service and dedication to fostering collaborative partnerships has led to the development and success of numerous impactful projects and initiatives, helping to create a better future for the Lao American community and beyond.
